Blue Mountains – Scenic World + Jenolan Caves

Some days plans just aren’t meant to work out well.  After making plans months ago to go to the Blue Mountains today not only was the weather horrible (rain + cold) we got off to a late start and got home quite well after dark.

Scenic World

This is the second time we’ve been to Scenic World at Katoomba.  You can read about the first time here.  This time we spent far less time there but did ride on all the attractions.  You can see a snippet in this video:

I also managed to snap some photos despite the rain.

If you’d like more information on Scenic World you can find it over on their website here.

Jenolan Caves

Following on from Scenic World the plan had been to drive to Jenolan Caves.  I sure underestimated how long the drive was considering the rain, it’s funny how you forget how long you spent on the last trip driving.

Anyway we arrived and it was very overcast and dark.  The self guided caves were closed off so we explored the large open cave you drive through when arriving.  The place is still amazing and very photogenic with its old buildings contrasted perfectly with the mountainous environment.

You can find more information about Jenolan Caves here.  I’d recommend getting here early on a sunny day to spend some good time on the guided tours.  The road in and out is horrible and it’s a reasonable drive from Lithgow or Katoomba so factor this into your trip.

Did I mention it was cold?
