Burragorang Lookout – Warragamba Dam

Located a little over an hour from Sydney CBD you’ll find the beautiful Barragorang Lookout at the southern end of the Blue Mountains inside Kanangra-Boyd National Park.  The location offers expansive views of Lake Burragorang which is a man made lake which was formerley Burragorang Valley but was flooded after the construction of the Warragamba Dam to the north in 1960.  While viewing areas for Warragamba Dam offer some great views of the lake the drive to Barragorang lookout offers a far more majestic outlook of the lake.

Thanks to our regular guest photographer Donna for snapping these great pics.

There are also a number of information boards around the parking area showing the history of the area.

If you’d like to visit the best time is on a clear day as it seems to get quite hazy around the Blue Mountains thanks to all that eucalyptus.  It is about an hours drive south of the CBD.
