Boulcott Suites Wellington NZ

The Boulcott Suites in Wellington were a last minute accommodation change following the November 2016 Kaikoura 7.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the city on a few weeks before my stay.

The Suites are located just off Willis Street in the Wellington CBD and up a bit of a steep little street. There are two buildings, an old and a brand new wing. Lucky for me I got to stay in the new wing.

With earthquake aftershocks still striking frequently I was happy to be in the newer building, but have no doubt the older building was just as safe.

As the name implies this isn’t a hotel experience but more of a self contained suite experience with the room featuring all the mod-cons of home including cooking utensils, a dishwasher and even a washer/dryer. I really really need to remember to take photos when I arrive rather than after I have messed up the room.

Unfortunately my room didn’t have a balcony but some others did. It was very windy the weekend I stayed so it may not have been much benefit anyway.

The new building has very modern rooms with modern decor and all the furnishings you could need for a short or long stay. The proximity to the CBD was a bonus as well with my car staying firmly in the parking garage at the rear of the property unless I needed to go further afield. Even later in the evening there were nearby restaurants and convenience stores to pickup a snack.

The nightlife in the area on the weekend was also highly active with people walking past until early in the morning. There are many clubs and other venues nearby making this a great place to stay if you’re planning on heading out on the town.
