Virgin Australia Sydney Lounge Review

Since reaching Velocity Silver and getting 2 free lounge passes a bit over a year ago I have been so excited every time I fly to go to the airport super early to hang out in the Virgin Australia Lounge at Sydney Airport.

I am now a Gold Velocity member so I can do this every time.  Awesome!

The lounge can be accessed from the footpath outside the terminal building for quick access through security and into the lounge if you have no check in luggage, otherwise you can head up the stairs just past the security checkpoint in T2.  If you’re really keen on Airport parking, you can pay for Valet and park right at the door and the VA Valet will park your car for you.

The Sydney lounge isn’t quite as new as others like Perth but it is still in fine form.

The offering of food and drinks is extensive and changes frequently.  I normally only get in at breakfast time and even then this doesn’t disappoint.

At breakfast there is a vast array of soft drinks, juices, coffees and teas available and later in the day there is alcoholic beverages.

The food offerings change throughout the day with various hot and cold dishes available.  My all time favourite is a toasted muffin with ham and cheese at breakfast.

There are TVs throughout the lounge showing the latest news etc and free wifi for all guests.  They also have a business area with computers and a printer available for use.  Some of the seating areas have USB or power outlets so you can charge your devices.

Seating is scattered throughout with tables, counter bars and lounges at your disposal.  If you’re in for some refreshment you can even take a shower.

Flights are called around 5-10 minutes before boarding to give you sufficient time to get to your gate.  Some of the Virgin gates are a reasonable walk from the lounge area.

Other features seem to vary depending on current promotions like the massage chair, and some are always available such as the shoe shining kiosk.

Velocity Gold and Platinum members are able to use other airline lounges in International such as Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines but in my experience the Virgin Lounge is either on par or much better than these offerings.

If you’re keen to visit and don’t have Velocity Status, single entry can be purchased with accompanying flight with Virgin Australia or it’s partner airlines.

The Sydney Domestic Virgin Australia Lounge is worthy for a 9/10 for it’s friendly staff, clean environment, superb food and quaint luxuries.
