New Zealand Day 8: Queenstown, Jones Fruit Stall and Bungy

April 1, 2015

Day 8 started with a sense of relaxation.  There was no more driving to be done just exploration of Queenstown.

Not sure where to begin we headed into town from Arthurs Point.  The town is a hive of activity both day and night and today was no exception.

After finding a car park we walked around for a while looking for something to eat and taking in the surrounds.  Finally we found a brittish pub that had good sized meals on the cheap and sat down to enjoy the meal.

After lunch we were a bit tired of walking around so decided we’d jump in the car and see what was on offer.  Crystal’s friend had told her of a fruit stall at Cromwell she wanted to go to so we started driving that direction.

Just outside Queenstown we drove over the Kawarau River and see the bridge where bungy happens.  We’d stop here on the way back to take a look.

Arriving at the fruit stall was like parking at a Chinese Mecca.  There were bus loads of tourists in the middle on no where at this fruit stall.  Some where taking selfies with the small sign at the road, others were just stretching their legs.  The stall was packed with people.

After an hour Crystal returned to the car with a drink and a jar of jam that had cost a small fortune.  Clearly marketing as organic was doing this place wonders.

On the drive back through the mountains I noticed a river to our left.  There was a fast flowing river with an area called Roaring Meg.  I stopped to take some photos.

Back closer to Queenstown we reached the Kawarau River again and stopped to take a look at the bungy place.  It was closed but we were able to walk down onto the Kawarau Bridge which has been restored to see where people jump.

After a small rest back at the hotel we headed back into Queenstown to go to Fergburger for dinner.  The line was massive for almost 10pm and it took quite a while to get fed but it was well worth the wait.

Tomorrow we will explore Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and the Shotover River
